Description
Designed by the Texas Department of Public Safety, This course aims to equip local school officials, teachers, and employees with essential skills for responding to active shooter situations. While the course is designed for individuals permitted to carry a firearm at school, it is also valuable for concerned citizens who do not carry while at school. The course emphasizes utilizing available items and resources within the school environment during high-alert situations. It focuses on educating staff members who are employees of a school district or open-enrollment charter school and hold a License To Carry (LTC) a handgun in public at a school, regarding their responsibilities related to school safety.
This comprehensive two-day (minimum 15-hour) course includes:
* Classroom simulation training
* Advanced live-fire training
Please note that a current LTC is required to participate in this course.

* Strategies for protecting students
* Techniques for avoiding and denying intruder entry
* Effective interaction with law enforcement and first responders
* Methods for improving handgun accuracy under duress
* Using everyday classroom items for defense against intruders
* Identifying and utilizing readily available objects to deny entry or defend
* Developing effective decision-making skills under stress
* Preparing mentally and strategically for worst-case scenarios
